I recently spoke in Los Angeles in front of a graduating class of college students. I presented the Pyramid of Success in very condensed format. Of all that I addressed, there was one statement in particular that seemed to really resonate with the audience, so much so that I continue to receive feedback from people who were impacted by one simple idea: “There is no age limit on your dreams.”

Sure, if you’re 40 years old, you may never play in the World Cup; but you could still play soccer and enjoy it. If you have always dreamed of being a writer, maybe it’s time to start your great American novel. No matter how old you are, you can pursue your dreams. In fact, you owe it to yourself to do so. Your dreams are rooted in inner desires that inspire you. By not acting upon them, you short-change yourself… and you may just be short-changing the world of what you have to offer it.

You may never be a famous painter, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make art. So pull out a canvas and get started.
